So this morning, I’m sitting at one of the comfy window seats with a view of the passing parade of cars on their way out into the world.  Moms with kids stroll in, runners after their morning jog at Lake Washington,  diners with the morning paper, a group of college kids having a lively conversation- all enjoying the italian atmosphere of Mio Posto.

I’ve heard the Rainier Valley use to be called “Garlic Gulch” pre-60′s because so many Italians lived here.  The stalwarts from that era are Oberto’s specializing in meats and beef jerky, also major sponsor of the Seafair Stan Sayers Hydroplane races in August.  Borraccini’s is an old style deli, bakery and store – if you haven’t been there, it’s a must on the list of places to go.  They have great frozen meatballs, imho.

My treat today on Day 1 was a large chai with a light foamy head and a whole wheat banana blueberry muffin; moist inside with a toasty, cruncy top  sprinkled with chunky sugar. It was good. The cost $7.44 incl tip. This is my first treat in quite awhile as I recently finished a 13 day master cleanse diet which consisted solely of fresh, organic lemons, grade b maple syrup and cayenne pepper.  Calories, more than i want to know!  So today is a huge treat for me…yum!

My goal as I set out on this adventure is to have fun, explore the neighborhoods I serve, to engage in the communities and to learn more about where I live. I hope you enjoy the journey!

I’m planning to incorporate with facebook, twitter, yelp, foursquare, and other blogs; not sure exactly what that looks like yet, but it will be revealed as the journey progresses.
